Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you serve?

We serve ages birth to 18.

What insurance is accepted?

Medicaid, BCBS, All Kids and private pay.

Who can benefit from OT?

There are soooo many children that can benefit from occupational therapy! If you feel like your child is behind typical kids his or her age in motor skills, emotional regulation, fine motor, or body awareness, give us a call to learn more. Children with a variety of diagnosis benefit including but not limited to ADHD, ASD, developmental delay, complex developmental trauma, CP, dyslexia, and sensory processing disorder.

Should I wait to see if my child just “catches up“?

No! Research shows, the earlier intervention is initiated, the more you will see improvements in a child’s overall development. It is never to early to talk to your doctor about an occupational therapy evaluation!

How do I schedule an appointment?

If you would like your services billed through insurance, we need a referral from your child’s primary care physician. We can call your doctor to request that if you would like or you can simply ask your child’s PCP for a referral to occupational therapist to explore concerns you have. Our fax number for referrals is 251-252-0367. If you are not looking to go through insurance and would like a private pay evaluation, you can call our office to schedule an appointment.

How much is a private pay visit?

Private Pay evaluations are $120 and private pay follow up visits are $90.

How often can I expect follow up visits?

Every child is different! At the evaluation, your OT will discuss frequency with you and suggest what they feel your child would benefit most from. It is very common that our younger kiddos benefit from more frequent visits (2-3x/ week). Typically, our older kids will maintain a frequency of 1-2x/ week depending on the families schedule and availability.

What are some things I should tell my OT about during our first visit?

The more transparent you are at your initial evaluation, the more individualized the therapist will be able to make your childs care plan. Let your OT know of any medications, concerns you have, hospitalizations, trauma in utero, labor, or early childhood, etc.

What does a typical first session look like?

Typically, your child’s first session will be an evaluation. That will consist of parent interview, standardized testing, parent questionnaire, non standardized testing and therapist observation. Once this is complete, your therapist will write up a report and outline goals to be targeted over the course of treatment. At your first follow up appointment, your therapist will review the evaluation report and goals with you to ensure everyone is on the same page. Goals can be edited at this time if parents have concerns that the OT did not cover in the goals. The rest of the session will be focused on the OT and child building a relationship to allow increased success during future sessions.
